· Ristorantino 1985
Where it comes from.
Currywurst comes from Germany. Herta Heuwer is credited with inventing it in Berlin in 1949, when she poured a curry sauce over fried sausage. From there the dish spread across the whole German-speaking world – and at some point it found its way to South Tyrol too.
What makes a good one.
It’s all about the sauce. You can taste a ready-made sauce from a bottle straight away, whereas a sauce of your own with well-balanced spice makes all the difference. Add a sausage that’s fried crisp on the outside and a portion of fresh, hot fries.
How to order.
Mild or hot, with or without mayo, with or without fries – with currywurst, everyone gets to choose to taste. We have three versions: the Special with mayo, the Crispy One with fried onions and the Hot One with green chili sauce. You’ll find everything else on our currywurst page.
Ours since 1985.
At the Ristorantino, currywurst has been part of the menu since we opened in 1985, with a sauce made to our family recipe. How it all came about, we tell in our story.
